City of Light

Last week Dawn and I had our 5th year anniversary. To celebrate, I took her to Paris. I had five days off and there were empty flights going both directions. It was our first time to Paris. I had a chance to go years ago when I was an intern at TWA, it fell apart at the last minute, and I've been meaning to go ever since. It was a quick trip so we didn't get to do everything we would've liked to, but I'm sure we'll be back. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our three days in Paris.

While I loved Paris, I hated the Charles de Gaulle Airport. I certainly saw enough of it. More on that saga next time....

Congrats on your anniversary, and glad you had a great trip! (and de Gaulle is the worst airport on the planet ...)

Hi Sam. Been to paris a couple of times, got almost exactly the same photos as you! Barcelona is still my favourite european city, well worth a visit. CDG is horrendous, especially if connections are involved. Almost as bad as Heathrow.

Thanks for taking us along on for a virtual vacation.

For all the downsides of working in the airline industry, at least you can still enjoy the travel benefits of seeing somewhere you want to see (and not where you fly as part of the job).

CDG is an awful airport but Paris is my favorite city in the entire world. I loved the pictures, that wine looked good! Glad you had a good time. I see your RedCo buddies everyday from my post at LAX. Hear a lot of those MN and WI accents and it makes me homesick. And then i also get to speak french to the AC and AF pax, lots of smokers there.
Pictures are awesome.

Sam and Dawn: congratulations! I see the both of you as the old couple celebrating their 60th anniversary by jumping out of an airplane or something!

Wonderful eye for a good photo too!

Sam,

Just happened across your blog while searching for repo pilots. Looks like you are a talented photographer as well as pilot-loved your shots. Congrats on the anniversary although it's a bit past it when I read this. I am also a pilot who at this point is looking for a way to build time. Let me know what ideas you have in the tough times these days.

Thanks! J

Thanks for the comments, all...we really enjoyed Paris & plan on going back, non-rev nightmare notwithstanding.

Unfortunately, I find that traveling never quite seems to sate my wanderlust but only makes the itch stronger...already getting fidgety and looking through the guidebook section at the local bookstore...
