Northern Light

Has it really been a full month since I posted anything to this blog? Whoops. Dawn and I just got back from a two week trip to Norway (with short stops in Germany & the Netherlands) and the two weeks prior to that were chock full of flying, to say nothing of preparations for the trip. I'll be writing something aviation-related in the coming week, but in the meantime I'll share some of my favorite photos from the fjords and mountains of Norway.

Those last 5-6 pictures are spectacular! I always wanted to see the fjiords in Norway and Alaska. Any chance you can tell me the specific name of the city/area where those pictures were taken?

I really enjoyed that. It looks like a fabulous holiday and a good use of pics in a blog post.

Fantastic pictures of my beloved country :)
You should have been here yesterday. 88-89 degrees F outside, and CAVOK all around. Nice weather for me to go flying.

Just read through your blog. Interesting stuff :) I've had my PPL for two years, I'm done with my ATPL theory exams, and I'll shortly be starting CPL/IR/ME flight training.

Nice pictures. I took a trip to Norway a couple years ago and I remember a number of the places you have photographed. Beautiful country! Can't wait to go back.

Nope, I'm here, I'm here! Just been busier than a one-legged crack dealer in Compton!

Tom B-
The first five photos are in Oslo (the harbor, Akershus Fortress, Viking Ship museum, Vigeland Sculture Park). The next three are on the train ride from Oslo to Bergen; the one after that (with the multicolored warehouses) is Bergen itself.

The photos after that are in the fjord country north of Bergen: crossing the Sognefjord via ferry, a lake whose name escapes me, A39 through a spectacular valley (Jostedalen), the Jostedalsbreen glacier peeking over cliffs above a lake called Lovatnet and then another tongue of it that extends down into the valley. The pictures after that were a cruise down the Geirangerfjord, one of Norway's more famous & beautiful fjords. The pictures from the hike were above the Geirangerfjord, and the morning reflection pictures were there as well. The two panoramic shots of snowcapped mountains across lakes were on the eastern side of Jotunheimen National Park, and the three pictures after that are on the Sognefjellet mountain road that skirts the park's western boundary. The fjord pictures that follow are of a cruise down the Sognefjord and Naeroyfjord to the town of Gudvangen (3rd to last picture). That last two pictures are of Borgund Stave Church and the top of the "Snovegen" road near Aurland.
