Where Are Sam & Dawn Now?

Next week is Spring Break at Dawn's school, and the kids aren't the only ones who get to have fun. We're leaving on a trip tonight and won't be coming back until April 8th. In the spirit of my last "Where Is Sam Now?" contest, I'm going to let you guess where we are going. The grand prize is dinner & brews at Rock Bottom Brewery with Dawn & I next time you're in Portland or Seattle. Speaking of which, LoadmasterC141 still has to collect on his prize from last time.

Here's how it goes: I'll post written and/or pictoral clues whenever I can get online. You have to figure out our final destination - city/town/village, not just country. Some of the clues I post may refer to places along the way to our final destination. Moreover, the clues might abruptly change if heavy flight loads force us to an alternate destination.

OK, on with the clues.

1. We will be using several modes of transportation. In all, it will take us 38 hours to get to our destination from the time we embark.

2. Although I rather doubt that Aviatrix has ever flown a Weedwhacker full of pop and chips to where we're going, its name is a form of "Animalname Waterbody."

3.

4.

5.

6.
7. The animal referenced in "Animalname Waterbody" is a turtle. That'll only help you if you know what the translation for turtle is where we are :-).

Goose Bay, Newfoundland & Labrador?

Goose Bay...now that's a Spring Break hotspot! I hear they're filming "Wildlife Gone Wild" there this week! But sorry, that's not it...

Alaska :-)

Wow! 38 Hours huh! Tantalizing tidbit. At first I though you must be travelling to the other side of the world, but you just as well could be heading to some remote part of Alaska in that time.

Unfortunately, I am leaving on a jet plane myself soon and won't be able to play as much as I did last time. A shame really, seeing as I truly enjoyed the last one!

I'll keep up on it though...

Oh btw, thanks so much for all the hiring posts you have made. They have really helped. I am looking forward to more stories of "Sam and the Megwhacker" now though.

Have fun on your trip!

Ok, I think noone so far has been using all the clues that Sam gave us. With the sun lotion it seems like they're heading somewhere nice & warm, and that's not Alaska in April. :) I checked the book in the last picture and it seems to be Thailand related. And Thailand seems to be quite possible destination for their trip - it explains the mosquito repelent, the beachware, the 38 hour trip, all modes of transportation - probably going to some island with no major airport or at least not server by an airline with which Sam's company has non-rev agreement. So I'd vote for Badger Laguna or anything similar, unfortunately my knowledge of Thailand geography is uhm.. mostly lacking. But probably someone more familiar with the area will be able to score the award this time. :)

Oh, and of course - enjoy the trip and the time at the beach. :)

Hmm...after looking at that book, I'm going to guess Ko Samui, Thailand.

Hmmm, some of you are getting very, very warm.

You're right, that's the island (if an island is a waterbody :)). But where on the island? Without another clue, it's back to guessing, but I would go with Hin Wong Bungalows since they do seem secluded like the ones in the picture.

Yeah I am having a hard time with the beach picture. Maybe Cape Jeda Gang. Saw a pic of it on the net and it looks close, plus it says Taxi Boat recommended....

The rocks in the third pick look like The Seychelles. That's got to be a klong haul to get there!

LoadmasterC141 wins again...either he's a good guesser or he spends way too much time on the net! :-)

It'd be hard to guess where we're staying from any pics I'd upload, so I'll just tell you that it's Sunset Bungalows in Ao Jun Jeua.

Will upload more pics in separate post.

Good job all! That was fun :)
